It sounds like you're running out of memory. Have you checked your task manager when running the program or run it while you leave the program on over night? Maybe don't minimize the flight simulator at all. Turning the screen off has nothing to do with it.
Run disk cleanup before you do a flight tonight. If that doesn't fix it give me a call and we can discuss other tools and procedures to keep your computer "tuned up".

check / update your video drivers.
go to start menu -%26gt; run -%26gt; type eventview
in event viewer go to logs -%26gt; system. see if you do this right after you log back after a restart and see wat error it logs.
post the error here or in Google.

Depending on the temperature at your place and the cooling your pc uses you might be overheating CPU and the PSU.
I bet it is very dusty in there too.
If that's the case, leaving it unattended and under load could be a fire hazard.
You can check the event log.
But I think but I think it is overheating.
The processor heats up.
