either way, you will have to put the realism to max in order to push the limits of your PC if it is a (reasonably) recent one.
from this forum ( http://www.flightgear.org/forums/viewtop鈥?/a> ) it seems that even a Pentium 4 (a fairly fast one, though) w/ 2GB of RAM does the job (w/ XP SP3).
having a dedicated video card which supports OpenGL is however VERY advisable in order to enjoy it.
